------------------------------------------PRESIDENT’S
ADDRESS----------------------------------------
Dear Powderhorn Racing Club Racers and Families:
Greetings and
welcome back to a new racing season! Get going on those snow dances!
(Thanks, they worked)
The Powderhorn
Racing Club has made some small changes that will have a big impact on how
the program runs. Remember, we are a volunteer club and your help is always
appreciated!
Most
importantly, our two racing programs,Buddy Werner and USSA are centralized
under Powderhorn Racing Club and will be overseen by head coach Randy
Majors. Many of our great coaches have returned and the program will be
stronger than ever!
Finally,
Powderhorn Racing Club is hosting a USSA Age Class Slalom race this year at
Powderhorn on February 3rd. This will be a great chance for the BW racers
to see what the “Big” kids are doing. We will need the support of the entire
Club to host this event-Buddy Werner and USSA parents and racers alike!
Please plan to participate in hosting this race!!!
I look forward
to a great year!
Dave Mueller,
PRC Board President

NEWS-------------------------------------------
The Buddy Werner Team Meeting will be held on Wednesday, December
5, 2007, 6:00pm at Holy Family Catholic School. Please plan on attending!
The regular
season will begin with a ski-by on January 6, 2007 and will run through
March 2, 2007. Those who qualify for the State Race will begin training
after the regular season.
We have scheduled two “Holiday Ski Camps”. The first beginning
December 27th - 30th and January 3rd - 5th. The cost for the camps is
$125.00 for the first week and $200.00 for both weeks.
If you are in
need of rental equipment, now is the time to get fitted. Both Gene Taylor’s
and Board and Buckle offer deals to Buddy Werner Racers, so be sure and
mention it when ordering your skis.
Also, don’t
forget to buy your Powderhorn season passes early! Discounts are still
offered at the rate of 10% off if purchased in November.
Please help the
club by making yourself available to volunteer in some capacity throughout
the racing season. It will add to the safety of the racers, as well as
making it a great season for everyone involved.
In the
meantime, if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me
(970) 254-8656.
Thanks and see
you in December!

--------------------------------DEVELOPMENTAL TEAM (DEVO)
NEWS-------------------------------
The DEVO program offers a transition phase
between Buddy Werner and the age class racing. It is open to anyone with a
desire to make the progression. This year it will be offered as an optional
additional Saturday training day each week. For DEVO information contact Dave Mueller (dbmueller@qwest.net)
--------------------------------------------------USSA
NEWS---------------------------------------------------
USSA is considered the competitive arm of the
racing team and is geared toward racers and families with a desire to
progress through the age class racing series.
"Age class" refers to racing against others of
the same age regardless of ability. "Ability class" racing comes at an older
age (usually 13 years old) and refers to racing against others of the same
ability regardless of age.
Last season we sent 5 racers to the Junior
Olympics (greater than 20% of our racers!).
This year we will be sponsoring an age class
slalom race at Powderhorn on Feb. 3. It is a great experience for younger
racers and their parents to watch. We will also need many parent volunteers
to help us put this on. We will be looking to parents of both the Buddy
Werner racers and the USSA racers to help with this event.
For more information on the USSA program, contact Deb Twardowski.
